Workout Number 11…it’s been a little over five weeks since I began training again, after about a 2 year layoff. In this one, I do some bench presses, squats, barbell curls, overhead presses, speed bag, and heavy bag. Jordan decided to join me for a little bit during this one too. I’m pretty happy with how my strength is coming back. I’ve been making some changes to my diet as well, so it will be interesting to see what difference that makes. Right now, I’m in a bit of an adjustment period, as my body gets used to getting less simple carbs. I’m looking forward to seeing how the next month goes. Thanks for watching, we appreciate it!

I was feeling pretty worn out, but I decided to get a workout in anyway. Posting these videos motivates me to keep going. In this one, I did some light squats, some true strict curls, and some overhead presses. I felt especially weak in the overhead presses…I’m guessing as a result of my bench press workout two days earlier. Anyway, I pushed through and decided to end with some speed bag work and some kicks. I suck at kicking right now, because I really need to increase my flexibility…but it’s still kind of fun. I’m trying to improve my diet, so I can have more energy and so I can recover more quickly. I’m adding in more protein, to help build back what I’m tearing down. Hopefully it all starts to come together as the weeks go by. Thank you for watching, I appreciate it!
This is Workout Six in my “Getting Back in Shape” series of videos. I’ve just returned to lifting regularly after a couple of years away from it. I decided to post videos of my workouts from the beginning, so that I can track my progress over time. Knowing that I’m going to post the videos, keeps me working hard. In this one, I warm up with some punching on the speed bag and heavy bag, then move over to the bench. I’m trying to take it slow and use strict form on the bench press. I’m not using much weight yet, but that will come in time. I like to superset by bench pressed with a pulling movement…in this workout I used lat pulldowns. Jordan and I are shooting some new car vids today, but we’re going to slip in one more workout video this week. This is workout number 5. I do my first deadlifts in years and then move on to some heavy barbell curls. I tried to curl as strictly as possible on each weight. In the future, I’ll do them against a wall, so can guarantee true strict curl form. I curled 100, 126.4, 136.4, and then finally 140.8 Lbs. I setup the camera to the side, so you can judge if they were strict enough. Jordan decided to join me for some of the workout this time too. He has only been working out consistently since Nov. 15…I think he’s going to be really strong if he sticks with it. He seems to have some great natural strength. If you are a regular subscriber, you can rest assured…we’ll be getting back to more consistent car videos soon. This is the 4th full workout in our video series of me trying to get back in shape. I did another workout a couple of days prior, that I didn’t film, so this is truly my fifth full workout after about 2 years off. In this one, I did my regular heavy bag and speed bag punching, but also decided to throw in some kicks. I threw some straight front kicks, crescent kicks, and round house kicks at both the heavy and speed bags. I haven’t done any of that in a long time, so I’m not that flexible at the moment. I also did a few sets of full depth squats and with some overhead presses in between. Did some of the presses in strict military style, but others with a bit of knee dip…I think both have their value. Then I finished up with a few reps of 128 Lb barbell curls, but two were cheated pretty badly. Once again, just testing to see where I’m at currently. I have always liked doing lat pulldowns as part of my workout, so I knew I wanted a lat machine in our new home gym. Yesterday, I decided it was time to throw one together. I used the same basic design that my Dad used in his home gym and I constructed it using mostly scrap wood that I had lying around. The bulk of the wood came from an old twin bed that we had in storage, but I did end up going to the store to buy one final 2×6 to finish it up. It seems plenty strong and works pretty well. I do need to get some new steel cable though, as mine is badly frayed. I hope you find it interesting, thanks for watching!
